The NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® has launched a national advertising campaign to urge potential home buyers who have been waiting on the sidelines to act now before prices gain traction. The campaign includes full-page newspaper ads running in six of the nation’s leading newspapers.

The advertisement points out:

q       Interest rates have fallen seven months in a row and are near 40- year lows.

q       Inventories of exisiting homes are higher than they have been in decades.

q       Home prices have stablized.

“Homeownership is a safe, secure way to build long-term wealth, “the ad reads.  “The national median price of homes bought 10 years ago has increased 88 percent.  The number of U.S. households is expected to increase 15 percent during the next decade, creating a continued high demand for housing.”

REALTORS® were in New Orleans this past week for the 2006 REALTORS®            Conference and Expo and donated some of their time to improve the lives of New Orleans residents and to help rebuild the city’s homes and facilities.

Volunteers worked on a home in the Musicians’ Village.  This home was one of seven that the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® is sponsoring at the Village, which was conceived by Branford Marsalas and Harry Connick Jr.  The jazz greats are honorary members of Habitat for Humanity® International’s Operation Home Delivery effort to build 81 affordable homes so that musicians can return to New Orleans.

Five homes are already occupied and another 30 homes will be ready for occupancy by Thanksgiving.

Harry Connick Jr., gave a concert for the REALTORS® and the 41st U.S. President, George H. W. Bush and the 42nd U.S. President William J. Clinton both came to New Orleans to brief REALTORS® on the efforts of their Bush-Clinton Katrina Fund and to praise all Americans – big cities and little towns, rich and poor – for their commitment to rebuild communities.

November is REALTOR® Designation Awareness Month.

Safety Tip of the Week: Find a self-defense class.  The best way to find a good self-defense class is to learn what is available, and then make a decision.  Many health clubs offer some type of class, or you can check your local (or online) Yellow Pages under “self-defense.”  You can also ask your fellow REALTORS® , friends and family if they have taken a self-defense class that they would recommend.

MRMLS Matrix will now allow agents to add up to 20 photos per listing.  That is an increase from 10 to 20.  You can also add up to 10 supplements.
