The NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® reports that pending home sales were down slightly in September and that home sales are expected to hold fairly steady in the months ahead.
The South Coast Air Quality Management District in cooperation with the California Air Resources Board (CARB) and the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) has scheduled a series of public workshops to discuss the draft proposed 2007 revisions to the Air Quality Management Plan (AQMP).
The draft 2007 AQMP aims to define Southern California’s comprehensive strategy to clean the air we breathe as expeditiously as possible. The draft 2007 AQMP is designed to meet both state and federal Clean Air Act planning requirements for all areas under District jurisdiction, including the South Coast Air Basin (Los Angeles County, Orange County, San Bernardino County and Riverside County) and the Riverside County portion of the Salton Sea Air Basin (including the Coachella Valley).
Public workshops will be held as follows:
q November 14, 2006 – at 9 a.m., in the Burbank Council Chambers, 275 E. Olive Avenue in Burbank.
q November 15, 2006 – at 9 a.m., at the Riverside Convention Center, 3443 Orange Street in Riverside.
q November 15, 2006 – at 2 p.m., in the Santa Ana Council Chambers, 22 Civic Center Plaza in Santa Ana.
q November 16, 2006 – 2 p.m., in the AQMD Room GB, 21865 Copley Drive in Diamond Bar.

The Urban Land Institute (ULI) has announced that it will create an international real estate education center in the United Arab Emirates.
ULI, is a global research and education institute dedicated to responsible land use. The goal of the center will be to advance the professional knowledge and skills of those working in land use and development by offering conferences, workshops, symposiums, and so forth to attendees all over the world.
