Distribution Starts September 15,2008

Our reliance on Public and Private ID's as the sole form of user authentication is no longer an option.  Password sharing has become more widespread which leads to sensitive information going into the wrong hands.  Controlling access to the MLS is more critical than ever since it is no longer just listing information at stake.  We have an ethical obligation to protect the personal information of your customers and clients. 

To deal with the weaknesses in our current password-based login authentication system, MRMLS will implement a security process known as “strong authentication.”   “Strong authentication” eliminates password risks by providing multi-factor (Public ID, User Pin and SafeMLS™ password) authentication.

During the week of September 15, 2008, MRMLS will begin phased implementation of the SAFEMLS™ token product in partnership with Clareity Security and Secure Computing.  Each user of our MLS system will receive a SAFEMLS™ token with instructions on self-registration and details on using the token. 

We want to assure each of you that we are working to protect the valuable data and information in the MLS.  More information on the SAFEMLS™ product will be provided to each of our members in the coming weeks.  In the meantime, members can learn more about MLS security at http://www.safemls.com/.

Date of Distribution:  Starting September 15, 2008 Note: MRMLS will be contacting each of your associations and board of realtors to schedule a time for distribution of the SAFEMLS™ token.  Cost:   Tokens are given at no additional charge to valid members prior to September 1, 2008. New Members:   Members who join after September 1, 2008 will be charged additionally. SAFEMLS™ Token Options:   SAFEMLS™ token, ActiveKey, or TEXT-Pass to your cell phone. Note: An additional charge will apply if you decided to receive your SafeMLS code on your ActiveKey or cell phone.

17. Who is required to use SAFEMLS™ tokens?        

1. All users including office and personal assistants are required to have their own SAFEMLS™ token by November 18^th.

17. If I am an existing member of Sandicor or SoCal MLS, can I use the same SAFEMLS™ token to
    log into Matrix?        

1. Yes, you can use the same token to log into matrix.  All you need to do is register your SAFEMLS™ token on the Matrix system on September 15, 2008.  Detailed information on registering your token will be provided before September 15^th. You will not be required to attend a distribution event if you currently have a token from SoCal MLS or Sandicor.
